Detoxing

I know a little bit about detoxing. Working at a youth jail I have seen teenagers come in after going to the hospital first because of their heavy drinking or drug abuse. It can take time and some work and time to feel normal again.

Yesterday I took the 10 Skyline Chili Dog Challenge. It was an adventure. I finished the first five really quickly-like less than four minutes. I think it was about the eighth chili dog where I hit a wall. I finally finished them all in 17:46 and achieved wall of champions status! It was a lot of fun. Myself and our Kids Pastors had some great laughs along the way.

I needed to do some "detoxing" later on. When I got home that afternoon I did a few things to detox. I drank a lot of water. I took a nap. I went to the gym for a light workout and some time in the sauna and steam room.

Sometimes I feel like I need to detox spiritually. Sometimes I feel sick with my blatant sin or apathy. The thing about spiritual detoxing is that I can't clean myself up. I need to swallow my pride and ask God for help. One of the amazing things about God is that He is always willing to forgive us and clean us up when we ask for it and genuinely mean it. Then we are able to move forward because whatever cleaned out of is gone. God has taken out our trash and invites us to walk with Him. That is my God! So amazing!
